Ballet Central

Ballet Central was created in 1984 as the touring company of Central School of Ballet. The company visits towns and cities across the UK every Spring, usually commencing in March going through to July. Last year Ballet Central performed in 21 venues from Penzance to Dumfries.

Central's final year students join Ballet Central as part of their BA (Hons) Degree course. Central School of Ballet is the only classical vocational school to offer an Honours Degree and pre-professional touring experience on such a scale. The tour is a springboard for hundreds of dancers into the dance profession; graduates join renowned UK based and international dance companies and leading musical theatre productions.

A feature of the Ballet Central tour is the opportunity to see dance from highly-acclaimed and emerging choreographers who collaborate with students to produce newly commissioned works and much-loved revivals.

Recent Ballet Central choreographers include: Richard Alston, Matthew Bourne, David Bintley, Christopher Bruce, Jonzi D, Christopher Hampson, Jenna Lee, Christopher Marney, David Nixon, Michael Pink, Mikaela Polley, Darshan Singh Bhuller, Liam Scarlett, Malgorzata Dzierzon, Kenneth MacMillan and Wayne McGregor.

The Ballet Central experience also provides young dancers with an understanding of all aspects of creating performance, including the staging of repertoire, costume design and technical aspects of sound and lighting.
