Ballet Central made a welcome return to touring this summer following the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions.  The 11 venue, five week tour commenced in Hornchurch on 17th June (preview), and then visited towns and cities across England with final performances at the Britten Theatre in London on 20 and 21 July.

This year’s tour opened with Act 1 of Le Corsaire, a thrilling classical ballet with romance and daring, dashing pirates and magical pas de deux set against a backdrop of the high seas.  Charlotte Edmonds, a young upcoming choreographer, presented a new work jigsaw, created to a commissioned score by Ballet Central Resident Composer Philip Feeney, especially for the tour.  And to conclude, audiences were treated to Act 2 of Matthew Bourne’s Highland Fling, a gothic fable of winged fairies, romanticism and kilts, filled with wit, magic and wicked humour.
